Late Night's Lead To... -P5

The night was silent. I'm sitting on the side of the road with some strange woman I don't even know. This day couldn't possibly get any weirder, right?  I shouldn't even be complaining. You'd think a guy wouldn't have anything to complain about when he's chilln' ….on a curb….with a pretty girl in a school girl-ish outfit, right? Every guy's secret, but not so secret, fantasy.

"Yeah…I do…..so…." She started fumbling with the sleeves of my sweat shirt, which were clearly too big for her.

"Um…okay, shoot. " Can't sound too eager, right? The suspense is killing me though. I don't know why. I've only known this girl for what? Like thirty minutes? I'm surprised she's telling me anything at all.

"Well, it's about a guy friend…he kicked me out of our apartment like an hour ago. The apartment I paid for…*sigh* literally dragged me out of my house…."

Guy friend? Well, boyfriend obviously. Dragged her out of her own house? Damn, that's harsh. "I'm sorry."

"Called me a whore for hanging around too many guys and threw me out. I didn't know where I should've gone. I just kind of wondered up here." She sounded like she was one the verge of tears, but was trying to conceal that fact. Man, I didn't even know her but I knew I wanted to kick this dude's ass for sure. Why the hell would someone do that and just let her wonder around, alone, at all hours of the night?

"So what are you gonna do? I mean, do you have a place you can go or a motel, or something?" What else could I have said to her? I'm already stunned to begin with. Problem is I can't leave her out here.

"My family doesn't live anywhere near here…."

*sigh*

"He made me give up all my close friends. Said, I didn't need them. That all we needed was each other. God dammit…I fell for that. How could I have fallen for that shit?" She was starting to get upset and without thinking, I moved down the curb to where she was sitting and hugged her. I felt stupid at first, but maybe she needed that hug. Even at the risk of my poor battered face taking another beating.

She stared at me. No slap. No punches. Just stared. Right into me. Almost seemed like she was looking straight through me. Then she hugged me back. I mean really hugged me. As if we hadn't seen each other in years, but we missed each other's company.

The fact that she was wearing this heavy perfume made her all the more a intoxicating. Literally. The smell made me really dizzy.

"Can I ask you a question?" Her voice was hushed under our embrace. Haha embrace. That term always makes me laugh. It's so cliché.

"Yep."

"Why are you still, listening to me?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean…why are you so interested in my life?"

"Never said I was."

…

"Listen, this probably sounds bad for the situation but, do you want to stay over my apartment tonight? It's cheaper than me having to pay for your motel room." She started giggling. Good sign. She wasn't going to hit me again.

WAAAAAAACK!!!

Spoke way too soon...

"Haha, what did I say about taking me home?"

Such an aggressive girl…ugh...
