Love and Promises

You repeat those same words….
Over and over
"I love you"

I can feel my whole body tense
And I can't breathe
The air just escapes me….

You ask me to promise you
"Never leave" you said
And I promise that I won't

To never leave
And stay here
For as long as my heart still beats

And I never break my promises
Especially not to you
Whom I can never stop loving

For you I'm on my knees
My heart beating so fast
And I can't catch my breath…

And still keep that promise
The one locked in my heart
Until I breathe no more....
